The UNDP Junior Professional Officer (JPO) programme has an opening for a machine learning specialist within the Advanced Technology Applications Center (ATAC) in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Geneva, Switzerland. Please note that this position is open in the context of the JPO scheme sponsored by the Government of the United Kingdom and it is addressed exclusively to UK nationals.

The candidate should ideally have proven experience with neural machine translation techniques and frameworks. Proven experience in other machine learning fields of application such as natural language processing, automatic speech recognition and computer vision will be considered.

ATAC is responsible for providing support in machine learning applications to other database sections, to other WIPO Divisions and other external entities. The section has developed its own machine learning tools for WIPO and for other international organizations: automatic translation tool (https://patentscope.wipo.int/translate/translate.jsf), image similarity for trademarks (https://www.wipo.int/reference/en/branddb) and continues to develop a similar functionality for the Global Designs Database (https://www.wipo.int/reference/en/designdb). The section has also developed a speech-to-text (voice recognition for conferences) for the needs of the over 150 meetings that WIPO hosts every year. ATAC wishes to continue exploring the applicability of Machine Learning to other intellectual property activities.
