Our team is looking for a postdoc to work on improving the quality of translation for African languages
The position
In this position, the post-doc will lead the exploration and understanding of low-performance translation models for many African Languages (e.g. Bantu and Atlantic Congo families) and explore techniques to improve their translation quality. Potential improvements could come from (but not limited to) developing novel translation mining techniques; other possible augmentation techniques (e.g. speech+text, grammar expansion), as well as innovation in modeling.
Ideal candidates will have experience in pushing the state of the art of NMT models under low-resource constraints. Experience in NLP for African languages is highly desirable.

The goal of our project, No Language Left Behind, is to bring Machine Translation to hundreds of languages in the world.
